Galway
Warrior
Friend, Legend, Teacher
1983-2009
It is with the deepest regret that
we record the passing of a true legend in the equine world.
Our beloved Galway Warrior passed away on the evening of July 2, 2009.
Warrior was 26 years old when he passed. No one ever
expected that he'd be with us to such an age - which is almost unheard of in a
draft horse. He was a strong, yet kind fellow with a presence and
disposition that one will never forget.
We are truly blessed to have had him with us for all these years.
Warrior shall always be remembered as the father of the drum horse breed in
America. He introduced many people to the breed, and inspired them to
breed others in his image.
Galway Warrior has left behind a generation of spectacular
offspring, which will carry on in his wake. He will be missed, but never
forgotten.
Rest in peace my big friend.

Galway Warrior is the
world famous
Drum Horse stallion that was once owned by the Queen of England, as a sire of drum horses!
He stands an honest 17.1 hands high, and is by the Immortal champion Shire stallion, Edingale
Mascot. Mascot won the Shire Horse championship in England many times
before being exported to the USA in 1984. He is one of the best known
Shire stallions of the '80s, and has sired some fabulous offspring, including
Galway Warrior, out of a colored, part-shire mare.
Warrior has sired
some fabulous horses in the UK, and is now starting his career in the US.
Warrior is a proven sire of sporthorses, breeding dozens of thoroughbreds and
other light breed mares over the years to make some very accomplished offspring.
Many of those offspring are competing in high levels of jumping and dressage in
the UK, and are winning ribbons galore! Warrior has also made several
fabulous drum horses like himself when put onto Shire and Clydesdale
mares.
Warrior
is sane and sound, and is a phenomenal riding horse, (of course! it's not
every horse that gets to carry the Queen's drums!) He moves like a dream, and
passes this on to his offspring. His temperament is the best you can find,
being as sane and gentle as the day is long.

Warrior's Epic Journey

Warrior has several
USA breeding seasons under his belt now. He is an EXCELLENT shipper, with
his numbers and conception rates equal too or surpassing most young,
light-horse stallions! He is consistent, and reliable, and if a mare has a
chance of getting in foal, she will get in foal to Warrior, whether on-farm or
shipped. His offspring in the USA are bringing very good money, and are
consistently top-notch like he is. He throws color approximately 75% of
the time, so he has a much better than average record!
Galway Warrior is available to ship chilled semen to breed to a limited number
of outside mares for
the 2008 season. In spite of his excellent collection numbers/conception
rates, and very good health for a horse of his age, Warrior is 25 years old in
2008. This age is "up there" for a draft horse stallion, so we don't
expect to be able to offer him at stud publicly for many more seasons. If
you plan to breed to Warrior "some day" we recommend that you do it sooner,
rather than later. It would be a shame to miss out on this rare
opportunity to breed, not only to an awesome horse, but to a bit of British
Royal History!
Stud fee for 2008
will be $1600 which includes a $400 booking fee and the first collection.
There is a multiple mare booking discount of 10%, if fees are paid in advance.
Breeding priority will be given to feathered breeds (Gypsy Horses, Shires,
Clydesdales), but all breeds will be accepted.
We do offer a
LFG, and if you don't get a foal with color, the breed-back stud fee will be 1/2
of the current year's stud fee - and is good for the following year only.
Colored or not, these will be exceptional quality shire crosses, as Warrior has
some of the best shire horse blood in the world to fall back on. All
offspring are eligible for registration in the Coloured Horse and Pony Society
of Great Britain (CHAPS), the Gypsy Cob & Drum Horse Association, the Pinto
Draft Registry, as well as The American Drum Horse Association
For
those breeding-technical people, Warrior's average collection numbers:
Volume: 30-75 MLS
PMS: 75-85%
Concentration: Ranges from 250 to 430 Million per ML
Warrior also has great longevity when chilling, having conceptions on mares with
shipped semen when the semen was collected greater than 72 hours in advance of
ovulation!
This is one of the most fertile stallions (of any breed) that we have ever
worked with!

***We may have some
drum horse babies for sale at this time, see the
sale page for what we have
available.
