LK's Legacy
15.2 hand HOMOZYGOUS
Lion King son!
Introducing "Legacy"
(farm name "Luka"), our Lion King son standing at stud at BFSGH. Legacy is
a very well bred colt, with the Young PO Mare being his grandmother, putting the
legendary PO Mare on both sides of his pedigree. This amazing, well bred
colt was his breeders "pick", the colt he intended to hold back to use for
himself. This breeder is none-other than the man who owned The Lion King
since he was a yearling, and the man who bred the PO mare! He intended to keep a very good colt from
The Lion King and this colt was his pick. One of our gypsy
breeders made Lion King's former owner an offer he couldn't refuse, on not just
this one colt, but several horses at the same time (a large package). Our
breeder-friend made sure that this colt was in that package, so he then became
available to us.
Legacy is an awesome horse, he is just stunning to look at and built SO
amazing for the young colt that he is. He stood just over 15 hands at 27
months old (August 2005), so he will mature to 15.1 or 2 hands when he's
finished - nice and big, like his dad! He has the classic Lion King body
type, with the strong joints & wonderful bone, and a compact, short back.
He's got a really great shape, and nearly the perfect head for a larger-sized
stallion. He's got plenty of nice fine feather, and gorgeous well put-on
legs. This guy, as you can see by the pictures, is a gorgeous mover as
well, he just floats over the ground. He picks 'um up like a hackney as he
glides around the field. Legacy is the sweetest stallion one could ever imagine, anybody can
handle him, and he loves people. Legacy is so docile that when we aren't
using him for breeding, we just kick him out in the field with the geldings and
colts, and he lives among the herd as one of the gang! I don't know many
stallions that can do this! We used Legacy on a limited number of mares in
his first season, and settled most mares on his first-ever breedings in a single
cycle. He collects and chills well (numbers
available) and is just generally a very fertile boy like his notable sire.
He's our "ace in the hole" for gypsy stallions, he collects and gets them in
foal easily, no muss, mo fuss.
Legacy is a great
choice for those who want the great Lion King blood and type, but without the
waiting list and the added expense. This colt is on his way to becoming a
legend like his dad, so don't miss out on this opportunity to have some fabulous
bloodlines and amazing gypsy cob type, put together with size and
homozygous-ness, at a reasonable stud fee! Legacy is also a GREAT
choice for breeding drum horses. With his good size, homozygous-ness, and
awesome movement, he is producing drum horses with the size, color, and movement
that the draft horse show ring is screaming for! Stud fee: $1500
gypsy mares, $1200 All other breeds.
Look for Legacy's first foals being born in May, 2006! (see pic below)

Luka in March, 2008.
(below)
Pictures of Luka taken in March, 2006. He's going well in harness now, and
is such a pretty boy when he's driving. He moves like a dream. We
may do a bit of showing with him in harness later this season, as we feel he
could really be a contender in open driving classes. He's maturing
wonderfully, and his feather is getting to be very heavy and thick like his
dad's. He's not quite 3 years old in these pictures. Click here to

Below are pictures taken when Legacy was
just a TWO year old.

Legacy in August, 2005 at 27 months old, winning the Colorado Horse Park Gypsy
Cob show. He beat several other colts and stallions to take the blue
ribbon! The judge loved him, and even appreciated the pacing gait which
Legacy was kind enough to display on one of his walking passes! It was
pretty dirty and dusty at the show, so his feather (after the class) wasn't
sparkling anymore, but he looked great going in!

Legacy has an
unusual and endearing trait of many heavy, traditional cobs. He paces when
he walks a good portion of the time. This picture shows his unusual
"gait". Gaited gypsy horses (and shires) are not that uncommon, but
most people just don't notice it! Gypsy horses that pace show all the
other gaits (trot and canter) normally, like most breeds, but many of them pace
at a relaxed walk some of the time. Legacy paces when walking around half
the time.

One of Luka's first foals, a beautiful, big,
homozygous colt, belonging to Marla in Florida! Congrats on the fine boy!
Homozygous, good size, great legs, short back, good head, and great hair for a
young foal of his age, what more could you ask for!
