The Vine family is
one of the best-known families for gypsy horses in England. It's not very
often that I go to inspect any gypsy breeder's herd that I don't find one or two
horses called something like "The Vines Mare", or The Vines Horse", or something
like that. The gypsy breeders get a good amount of their breeding stock
from the Vines, and the American's are learning to appreciate this fine stock as
well. They are quite well-known for breeding good, typey stock, that is
what "the lads" are looking for. Many of their bloodlines include good
horses like "The Kent Horse", "Road Sweeper", "The Old Coal Horse", etc.
They have been breeding them "their own way" for generations now. They
bred amazing horses like Silver Belle, and many of the best fillies on the sold
section.
"Nobby",
former main
breeding stallion of the the M. Vine family. Now in the USA.
Nobby and one of his more unusual sons!
"The Lottery Horse",
sire to Nobby, main sire of the J. Vine family, before coming to the USA.
One of their young, up-and-coming stallions, I called "Victor". He's a son
of "The Buck Horse", who is a son of The Road Sweeper. Victor
passed away early on, but left behind some fabulous foal crops.
Another of their young stallions. He's coming 3, and incredibly heavy and
"sweet" in type. He's not a big one, he's somewhere around 13.2 hands tall
I believe.
"Lloyds" -
This unusual horse is the "Blue Blagdon" horse. He's not a big one either,
but he's a good one! The blagdon color he sports is actually "sabino", but
the gypsies call it blagdon. He's a black horse with the excessive roaning
that blagdon/sabino can make.
"Ringmaster". Many of the
Vines family mares will be in foal to him for 2008.
This guy has awesome bloodlines, which you can tell by his wonderful type.
He has a great personality as well.
