Harley

One of a kind drum colt!

This guy is NEAT!  He's an interesting product himself.  As everyone probably knows, the gypsies aren't breeding for big horses these days, like they were 10-15 years ago.  The gypsy lad that owns the stallion for this boy had himself a top stallion, heavy as can be, and well respected among the gypsies.  He was a bit "out of fashion" as he was 15.2 hands, so his size made him not as in-demand as he was several years back.  The gypsy lad that owned him didn't want to sell him though, as he liked the horse, but was breeding his mares to a smaller stallion to "fit the trend".  He asked a farmer friend if he could put the horse into one of the farmers fields.  The farmer had one field which contained an old (about 23 years, by the owners estimation), retired shire mare. The mare hadn't bred a foal in over 10 years, in spite of the farmer's attempts, but he kept her anyway, because she had earned her retirement.  Well, about a year after she started sharing her field with this good gypsy stallion, out pops this surprise!

I've called him Harley, as he's as sporty and flashy as can be!  He's got tons of hair for a big horse, and he stands 14.2 hands at 6 months old!!!  His dam was over 17 hands, so this colt is well on his way to being a biggun!  I feel very confident that he will make 16.2 hands (look at the length of those cannons!), but he might go to around 17 hands!  This boy is HUGE!  He's definitely a "colored shire" type, known as a drum horse.  If the queen knew this boy was available, we might have to fight her for him! :>)  To Jeff and I he just screams SHIRE, but has more hair than many modern shires, and has the markings to die for!  His legs and style are superb, this boy could take-over at a halter class among other young shires!  As a dressage horse, you could stop traffic, and for a driving horse, his color would catch the judge's eye, and his quality, style, and movement would win the class!
This boy is really neat, and boy can he MOVE! He steps like a friesian, WOW.
Price, $13,000 thru NY quarantine for a limited time. We might take this boy as our replacement for Galway Warrior!
