Holly and Ivy - Yearling Fillies, half sisters
(Holly is the red and white, Ivy is the black and white)

These gals are half sisters, their sire is Jim's good stallion.  Ivy's mom is an older mare which belongs to Jim's son, which has been a dearly loved part of their family for years.  Holly's mom is one of Jim's older mares which has been in his herd for a very long time, and has produced some wonderful foals over the years.  She and Jim's stallion have twice now produced the pretty red and white babies, which we think are so neat!   There are only a handful of red and white gypsy horses in North America at this time, so Holly is a rare treasure indeed!  I liked her from the first moment I laid eyes on her on a hilltop in the Yorkshire dales.  Jim didn't want to sell her to me, as he had given her to a relative as a good luck charm (again, the red and whites are rare).  After a few months of me inquiring over and over, Jim finally gave the relative another filly that they liked, and sold me Holly.

Both of these gals are sweet and inquisitive, they are little baby-dolls.

June22, 2002 Holly Update:
WOW is Holly developing wonderfully!  I came back from a month in England this past week, and didn't even recognize her.  She's Beautiful!!!  I knew that under all that fuzz was a nice horse, and I couldn't have hoped for more as she shed and filled out.  Her shape is as close to perfect as I have seen, and she's just beautiful!  She's SO sweet and good natured, and nearly unflappable already in her personality.  She has been sharing space with all kinds of exotic animals which were evacuated from the Colorado Forest fires and she couldn't care less.  She never even took a second glance at the camels, zebras, and numerous other bizarre animals that were her neighbors on our farm in this past few weeks.  She's got such a fabulous disposition.  She's also getting BIG.  She's already taller than our 2 year old Rosie, who is her half sister, and she's nearly as big as our big Bonny filly.  She will easily make 15 hands.  She moves like a dream as well!  I can't say enough good things about this gal!  Here are her new pictures, I think they speak for themselves.

Look at that face :>)

As you can see, she's almost as big as her 2 year old Sister Bonny, and is bigger than Rosie.
She also LOVES attention, just like her sisters.

Holly, Bonny, and Rosie.  Holly really stands out in a crowd!

She is getting just elegant.  Such a beauty.

Winter pictures of Holly and Ivy (below)

In the winter pictures, Holly and Ivy are having fun, just a couple hours after arriving in Colorado.  They are both wooly monsters, but are shedding like mad now in the warm weather.  And yes, they do have some dreads in their hair!  Don't yell, there's a good excuse for that...  They were both just starting to shed out that 6-inch-gypsy-horse-baby-hair when we were about to fly them, but they had to be washed and disinfected before the flight.  Well, if you have ever gotten a shedding, long haired dog wet, you know what happens!  The hair makes big matted clumps.  We should have curried them well before getting them wet, but our transport truck was on the way and there wasn't time...  We have pulled out several of the clumps, but are letting them loosen up more so we don't just have to YANK the others out...  When we get them shedded out, we will put up new pictures.
