Beautiful Rose and her Handsome Colt

Rose did it for me!  I "put my order in" for a nicely built, well marked, great haired colt from her this year, and on Easter Morning, she provided him for me!  Rose would have come to the US in March of 2002 (after I spent a bit of coaxing to get her owner to sell her!), but she was getting too close to foaling to make the trip at that time.  It's a good thing we didn't try to push it, as a few hours before the rest of the horses on the flight taxied down the runway, Rose foaled this handsome guy!  He's EXACTLY what I asked for!

Pictures when colt is 1 week old

Look at the perfect shapes of both of these guys!  WOWZA!
If you look in a book of what a gypsy horse should look like, these guys are the pictures you would see!  (for conformation buffs, specifically, on Rose, check out the short back, which is created by the well sloped shoulder and nicely shaped rump.  Also look at the beautiful angles to the legs, perfectly curved and angled just right on the body.  Her pasterns perfectly follow the slope of her shoulder (as they should!), and her neck is a nice shape to compliment the rest of the mare.  She has beautiful, silky hair (when it doesn't have mud in it, that is :), and LOTS of it!  Her bottom line (belly), is right at twice the length of her top line, which is just as the "perfect conformation" books say it should be.  This mare is exceptional!  She could flatten most horses of any shape or size in conformation classes, and her colt is the combination of her fabulous body and his sire's.  Both mare and colt (and all of the other exceptional foals she's produced) have plenty of hard, flat bone, and beautifully clean joints.  Don't let color, markings, and amount of hair set you astray in looking for a good horse.  You should look for these conformation points BEFORE even looking at how much hair or color a horse has!

If you don't know of "the Rose line" of mares, they are the best blooded mares that Jim has on his farm, and are renowned throughout all of England and Ireland.  There isn't a better line of gypsy horses on the planet, and true gypsy breeder would ever say different .  Some of the best gypsy horses we have ever laid eyes on came from this mare!  Jim owns several generations of these gals, and they just keep breeding better every year!  For reference, see Young Rose (Panda) and Pie the filly (on our Sold Horses Page) as great examples of what a gypsy horse should look like!  Panda is the FULL sister to this colt!  The fabulous filly "Feather", now known as "The Gypsy Queen", who will be seen by thousands of admirers at horse expos throughout the US, is a granddaughter of this mare.  Also see our filly Rosie, who is one which we chose to bring home for ourselves this winter.  We LOVE this bloodline.  You can't do any better than these guys in gypsy horses, hands down.  They are from generations of highly selective breeding, and they breed absolutely true and fabulous!  His sire is also considered to be one of the best sires in all of England and Ireland, see pictures of him on Tali's page.  This colt of Rose's will be a contender in the gypsy horse world!  If nobody else snaps him up, he will be coming to Colorado with us at weaning time.

Rose will be bred back to Jim's fabulous stallion for a 2003 foal as well.  Rose is a nice big mare, standing right about 15 hands, and nice and wide and heavy.  She produces the best babies on the planet (we even bought one for ourselves!).  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!  I would buy the whole bloodline if I could afford all of them!

The colt is black and white.  They are born a mousy grey color when they will be blacks.
