"Sweet"
Yearling filly of impeccable breeding and type
This filly's name, like so many names given to gypsy horses, is a perfect description of her! She is referred to as "The Sweet-Good Filly", as she is so noted for her personality, and her exquisite type. If she were an average horse, nobody would remember "The Sweet Filly", but, as you can surely see from the pictures, she's anything but average. This is one of the 3 best yearling fillies I have seen, and we have seen over 300 yearling fillies in this year alone. The other 2 fillies comparable to this one are already in the states. I have had scouts out for months looking for a filly of this caliber, and we finally found her. She is phenomenal. She is "gypsy bred" and therefore has a pedigree that can be traced back several generations.
I met Sweet at a horse fair this weekend. I had heard about her for months before, but hadn't come across her yet in my travels. I was sure that my expectations would have been too high once I did meet her, but I couldn't have pictured a more beautiful filly. She was everything the rumor-mill had described and more. I was talking with a friend I had run across about horses at the fair, and he told me, be sure not to miss the sweet filly. Just as I left him, I came thru a row of trucks and horses, and in the distance I caught a glimpse of her. Every other horse in the path disappeared, and I saw what I though to be the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. This filly is a great example of what this breed of horse should look like. I really can't fault her. As a matter of fact, because I couldn't fault her, I knew that I couldn't wait until I had someone in the states that wanted her before I tried to buy her. She wouldn't last.
As the weekend wore on, it became apparent that the breeder was there more to show-off the filly than to sell her. (A large percentage of horses brought to horse fairs aren't really for sale. They are just there for "bragging rights" to show off the best of the best). Numerous of my traveling friends (and others that I hadn't met) tried to buy the filly, but she was just "too dear". Although I thought she was worth every penny that was being asked for her, I knew that after we added in import costs, that this gal would just be priced too high to make the trip to the US. After 2 days of hearing everyone I bumped into ask if I had seen The Sweet Filly, and of watching buyer after buyer get turned down in trying to buy her, I decided that it couldn't hurt to just go ask.
At the end of the last day, in the rain, I approached the seller. I simply said to him "I like your filly, I think she'd look good in the US" It started a long, (somewhat soggy) conversation about all that comes about when horses are imported into the US. He hadn't ever sent a horse to the US, and after I explained that we needed perfect stock like her to get the breed off to the right start in our country, he was willing to consider sending her abroad. I explained to him that, although I knew his filly was worth every penny of his asking price, I couldn't afford that price when the import costs were added in. He thought and considered for a bit, and, after just a little negotiation, I was the one to take home the Jewel of the Fair. Needless to say, the filly is still relatively "dear", but her price was attainable, so I had to have her.
I am MORE than happy to keep this picture-perfect filly, but if you must have her, the price will be $18,000 (it would have been nearly double that if the seller hadn't thought it was neat to have a horse come to the US, to be one of the foundations for the breed). She is one of a kind, there may be a very few equals, but there are no better ones than her. Without her perfect shape, I would have never even noticed her, but it was her personality that cinched the deal for me. She's exactly what they call her, SWEET. In a breed noted for it's wonderful personality, it takes an exceptional horse to stand out as having the best of the best personalities. This filly stands out in every way imaginable. I LOVE this filly!
For those that have asked that I find you the "cream of the crop" for gypsy horses, this is it. You won't find better, anywhere.

A boy holds Sweet while his dad takes a break. Sweet stood
there for him to lean on until he was ready to sit down. They were
watching some horrible commotion with some trotting horses just a few feet
away. She never moved a muscle thru the uproar. (you can see the boy is
kind of gasping, it was a chocolate mess!)

Back to leaning. "I'll hold you up"

Gulp, I think these pictures say it all.
The men in the below pictures tried and tried to buy this filly. After about 30 minutes of serious negotiation, they were sent away.

"Are you guys talking about me?"

"I'll just go back to eating grass if you guys don't need me for a
minute."

Poked and prodded all over. She stood there and took
anything that was dished out to her. She just enjoyed the attention, no
matter what form it was in.

Ah, I just gasp when I look at her perfect shape, even from a
distance.

It was quite the scandal when word got around that I was the one to succeed at
buying The Sweet Filly.
I already had to turn down an offer for her on the way to the truck!
"It was raining, and she was wet, but she just screams quality with every step"
A huge thanks to N.F. for parting with this piece of perfection.
